About
Dr. Karan Bharat Jain, a veterinarian from Navsari, Gujarat ”the historic land of the Salt Satyagraha” developed an early fascination for wildlife after observing flamingoes and Sarus cranes. He completed his master's in Animal Genetics and Breeding from IVRI, gaining expertise in genomics and conservation genetics. With hands-on experience in wildlife health and rescue across Gujarat, including at Sakkarbaug Zoo, he witnessed the role of veterinary science in species recovery. Dr. Jain joined the Wildlife Institute of India as a Scientist in April 2025, where he works at the intersection of wildlife health, field surveillance, and genetics-driven conservation.
